Tutorial 14: Create and document step-by-step Instructions

With QuadriSpace it is very simple to create step-by-step instructions with text descriptions that display as steps are animated. This is extremely useful for assembly instructions, user guides and other applications where viewing 3D can help understanding.

1. Close the current Document.
2. Open the example file “[YOUR INSTALLATION DIRECTORY]/Tutorial 3/tutorial_3_part_14.qsd”. This will open the ‘shock’ document that already has a number of illustrations created. In this project, each of these illustrations needs descriptive text, we will add that here.
3. Select the Model Ribbon and click on the Document Panel Button to bring up the document panel.
4. Select the Illustrate Ribbon. Click on the Illustration Pull down to familiarize yourself with the pre-created illustrations. When finished, select the top illustration in the list.
5. Look at the Document Panel; it should display a description for this illustration. We will now add text to a few other illustrations.
6. Click on the Next Illustration Button in the Topic Group. The Document Panel should indicate “Click to Add Text”.
7. If you want to recreate the document with real text, you can open “[YOUR INSTALLATION DIRECTORY]/Tutorial 3/tutorial_3_Procedure_Text.doc”. You can copy/paste the corresponding text from this document into the Document Panel.
8. Click the Next Illustration Button and then copy and paste the next block of text in to the Document Panel. Repeat until you reach the ‘Finished’ Illustration.
9. Now, click on First Illustration in the Topic Group. Noticed that as you click through the various illustrations that the text below each illustration the descriptive text is displayed.

When authoring instructions, the ability to add and display descriptive text for each illustration is paramount.
