Tutorial 12: Add 3D symbols by
simply sketching on a plane in 3D space
3D Symbols can be added to an illustration that may it easy to
point out details in a 3D scene. Instead of using complicated
modeling techniques, QuadriSpace offers a very easy-to-use 3D plane
that the author draws symbols onto.
-
Select the
Illustrate Ribbon.
-
Click on the
Illustrations Button to create a new illustration. Go ahead
and accept the default name. If you are continuing from the
previous part, the callouts from the previous illustration will
disappear when the new illustration is created.
-
Now we need to set
up the drawing plane, or grid. Click on the Grid Pull-down
and pick 3D-XZ. This should position the grid so that it is
parallel to the bottom of the model.
-
Now to position
the grid, we can click on the Position Grid Button and either
click and drag on the plane or click on the model to position that
plane at that point.
-
From the
Illustration Tools Group, click on the Shapes menu and
select an arrow from the shape library. Now drag and arrow out on
the 3D plane (see below).
-
When you are
finished adding markups, turn off Edit Illustration to exit
illustration editing.
-
If you now rotate
the 3D view, you will notice that the arrow rotates as well and
maintains it’s position relative to the scene.

Easily add interesting symbols and informative instructions to the
3D scene by simply drawing to a 3D plane.
