Part 11: Automatically create balloons that match a BOM

Create illustrations with callouts (that match a parts list), dimensions and more; organize multiple illustrations into a collection, or topic.

1. Select the Illustrate Ribbon.
2. Click on the Illustrations Button to create a new illustration. Go ahead and accept the default name.
3. From the Illustration Tools Group, click on the arrow to the right of the Callout Button and choose “Auto Create from Visible”. This will create callouts (or balloons) for all of the visible parts in the parts list
4. Once they are created they will automatically be selected for further editing. You can modify the font size from the Font Ribbon Group, or right click a balloon to bring up the properties panel.
5. To try other arrangements or automatically adjust thing after font or balloon changes, click on the arrow to the right of the Callout Button and choose “Auto Arrange”. Pick the desired format from the menu.
6. When you are finished adding and modifying callouts, click Edit Illustration to turn OFF editing.
7. Notice that the callout numbers automatically match the BOM on the document page.

Adding callouts to 3D views is easy and they are automatically associated with parts lists.
